The city rides on separated bike lanes, the ground is mostly flat, and traffic moves at a steady speed that feels quick if you have not been on a bike since school. You keep right, you signal with your hand before you stop or turn, and you do not stray into the lane to take a photo. Guides on these tours pick the routes that stay in the lanes. The rule people get wrong at the gate
Christiania is pedestrian and bicycle only, no cars — and bikes are welcome up to the gate but walked inside, not ridden. The e-bike tour: for covering more ground
2 to 3 hours on Danish-designed e-bikes with seven gears and cruise control, from Langelinie Allé 56. Helmets, headsets and baskets are included, child seats and cargo bikes are available, and it runs as a private booking or a small group. The headsets are the part I would pay attention to: a guide talking into your ear beats a guide shouting over a junction. The French-guided ride: bring your own bike
Four hours, in French, maximum ten, meeting at the Copenhagen Visitor Service in the Axelborg building opposite Tivoli. Read this line twice before booking: bicycles and helmets are not provided, so you bring or rent your own. The route runs Visitor Service, City Hall, Christiansborg, the Stock Exchange, Blox, Lille Langebro, the Church of Our Saviour, Freetown Christiania, Inderhavnsbroen, Nyhavn and Kongens Nytorv, and the framing is socio-economic rather than a list of sights. Who should not book a bike tour
Non-cyclists, plainly. All three assume you can ride confidently in traffic, and the e-bike tour is explicitly unsuitable for people with mobility impairments as well. No alcohol beforehand, no riding under the influence, and no strollers on the standard bike tour. If any of that rules you out, the walking options on the all-tours page cover the same neighbourhood at a slower speed.
Copenhagen weather turns inside an hour and these tours run anyway. A shell jacket beats an umbrella, because you cannot ride holding one. The bike tour hands out a rain poncho; the other two do not.

Can you cycle inside Freetown Christiania?
No. Bikes are welcome up to the gate and walked inside, not ridden, and cars are not allowed at all. Every guided bike tour dismounts at the entrance and continues on foot.
Do the bike tours include a bike?
Two of the three do. The City Highlights bike tour includes a bike in several sizes plus helmet, rain poncho and water bottle, and the e-bike tour includes the e-bike, helmet and headset. The French-guided tour does not supply bicycles or helmets at all.
Can children join a Christiania bike tour?
