What you are actually booking
Nobody sells tickets at the Christiania gate. The Freetown is 34 hectares of houses, workshops and old ramparts where between 850 and 1,000 people live, and the streets are open at all hours because it is a residential district. You can walk in tomorrow morning for nothing. What a tour buys you is the guide, and in a place where the path between two houses is somebody’s drive, that is a larger difference than it sounds. I spent nine years fixing cargo trikes two streets from the gate, and I still learn something walking behind a good guide. On foot: the walking tour
The Christiania & Christianshavn Guided Walking Tour runs two hours in a small group capped at ten, in English, led by someone who lives in the district. It meets and finishes at Strandgade 95 and goes Church of Our Saviour (15 minutes), Freetown Christiania (30 minutes, including free time), Copenhagen Opera House (15 minutes). It runs rain or shine, it is wheelchair accessible, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours ahead. At 4.7 from 300 reviews it has the largest sample of anything on this page, which is worth something on its own. Guides get named often: Barbara from Canada called it the “best tour and value of our visit to Copenhagen”, and Frank from Germany logged the thing that actually matters, “small group, very nice, friendly, and knowledgeable guide”.
Not for you if two hours of standing and walking is too much, or if you were hoping to cover the Little Mermaid and Nyhavn in the same booking.
On two wheels: the bike and e-bike tours
Three of the six ride. The City Highlights Bike Tour with Christiania Visit is 2.5 hours for a maximum of eight riders from Borgergade 30, and the bike, helmet, rain poncho and water bottle come with it; children’s bikes start from age 4. The Copenhagen Guided E-Bike Tour runs 2 to 3 hours from Langelinie Allé 56 on Danish-designed e-bikes with seven gears and cruise control, and hands out headsets so you can hear the guide in traffic. The French-Guided Bike Tour is four hours, entirely in French, meeting at the Copenhagen Visitor Service in the Axelborg building opposite Tivoli — and it is the one exception, because it does not supply bicycles or helmets. You bring or rent your own.
Not for you if you have not ridden a bike in years. Copenhagen bike lanes move fast and they are not a place to relearn. Inside the Freetown everybody dismounts and pushes.
Private: your group only
The Christianshavn Private Walking Tour is two hours from Højbro Plads in English, Spanish, Italian or French, taking in Christianshavns Kanal, Nyboder, Freetown Christiania and the Church of Our Saviour. The Vesterbro & Christianshavn Guided Tour is the long one, 3.5 to 4 hours and also private, in Danish, English or Spanish, starting at Viktoriagade 8 and crossing two districts before it finishes inside Christiania. Both hold 5.0 ratings, and both should be read with the sample size in view: seven reviews on the first, three on the second. That is a promising start, not a proven record. The flagship walk has 300.

Live dates for the tour most people take
If you have read this far and still cannot choose, take the walking tour. It is the shortest route to the thing you came for, and the cancellation window is 24 hours.
Weekday afternoons are the quietest hours inside the Freetown, and Sunday mornings feel the most local. The cafés and workshops open late, roughly from 10 or 11am, so a 9am slot buys you a very empty neighbourhood.
